Leinster Mills Cup Final between Avoca and Three Rock Rovers at Grange Road. TRR having dominated this competition in previous years were clear favourites to go on and win this encounter. However, Avoca had other ideas and a Shane O’Donoghue drag flick opened the scoring for Avoca as the place erupted… TRR levelled the game moments later and the sides finished Q2 level. In Q3 Jakim Berndsen continued to deny and frustrate the TRR forwards and Avoca were electric on the break. In Q4 O’Donoghue stepped it up a gear as he pushed forward in search of a winner and was himself brought down in the D to win a short corner; Avoca scored and thought they must have won it only for a brilliant deflection by the TRR forward as his effort ricocheted into the roof of the net for an amazing equaliser at the death.
