2019-11-03 Ireland v Canada

Olympic Qualifier 2nd leg between Ireland and Canada followed on in much the same vein as the first leg, with both sides coming close to scoring; however, after two legs without a goal, the contest was decided by 1v1s. With the score at 3-1 to Canada after 6 1v1s, Irish hopes were clinging onto survival thanks to a Nicci Daly conversion. Ayeisha McFerran kept Canada out for the final two and Beth Barr and Chloe Watkins sent the shoot-out into sudden death. Roisin Upton who missed earlier in the shoot-out stepped up and converted to put Ireland ahead and the pressure mounted for the Canadians who ultimately missed their final one. Sheer joy, passion and relief could be seen as Ireland celebrated qualification to their Olympic Games!!
