2017-11-14 Ireland v Denmark

The journey to qualify for the World Cup 2018 has finally ended for Ireland – having made the playoffs, a 0-0 draw in Copenhagen in the first leg still left the tie wide open for the return to Dublin; however despite going ahead with a Shane Duffy header as early as 6 minutes, Ireland had the stuffing knocked out of them with a rapid fire two goals before the break. Chasing the game, Ireland conceded two more as Christian Eriksen completed his hat-trick and substitute Nicklas Bendtner completed the rout from the spot as Denmark won 5-1.
